Unknown caller ID

This is kind of Scammer, normally those kind of scammer using are international premium rate number, this scammer just give you one ring and then disconnect the call. You will think that you missed an important call so you will call back. Usually nobody will talk to you from the other side and you’ll keep on saying something like hello, hello,…. Or sometime these scam number will redirect your call to other number.


The purpose of this kind of scammer mainly just to charge you for the call rate, the more you stay on the line the more amount will be charged from your balance.
In addition to the missed calls, you may also receive SMS/WhatApp/Email that would ask you to “please urgently call back” on a given (fraud) number.

Sometime even if they charge you nothing for the call, there are other reasons: once a scammer has a call on the line, it’s an opportunity to phish you and might pretend as a banker or other agency,… to ask for credential or sensitive information,…..

HOW TO AVOID GETTING SCAMMED?

There are a few things that you can do to avoid getting trapped in such scams.
-       Do not pick the call that is coming from other countries where the phone number remains unrecognized.
-       If you miss such a one ring scam call, do not call back.
-       If you’re unsure about the original of call, use google to look up for the country code.
-       Use mobile apps like TrueCaller, KitKat to identify unknown numbers.
